First of all I am so excited that you have chosen or are thinking of hiring me to capture this special time in your life.  In this edition of my blog I am providing some tips for your upcoming session in my Caledon, Ontario studio space.

1. Book your session early

I try to be as accommodating in my schedule as possible but booking early gives us ample time to prepare for your session and communicate.  It also ensures you are in my schedule in case there is no availability down the road.

2. The best time to have your maternity session

I recommend between 26-34 weeks.  You can absolutely schedule your session after 34 weeks however most women feel more exhausted closer to delivery.  You want to be showing but not uncomfortable.

3. Don't stress

I'm here to help and make you feel as comfortable during your session, please remember to keep hydrated and eat!

4. Share any ideas you have with me

I have certain poses I like for maternity but I am open to your suggestions, email me any ideas you have or would like to incorporate

5. Bring Sentimental items

They are not necessary but you can always bring along ultrasound photos, teddybears, onesies/shoes you may have bought for your baby.

6. Bring a light snack and water

7. Get Plenty of Rest

8. Props

I have a small collection of maternity sashes, crowns, floral crowns that you can use for your session

9. Think about who you would like to bring

It is nice to incorporate others in your session and I encourage photos with your spouse and children as this is a very special time for all of you.  I often get asked about extended family, extra people can be distracting and may make you feel more camera shy.  At the end of the day the decision is yours but just some food for thought.  For family photos, we can also start or end with spouses and children to give you time to shine without distraction.

10. How to style your family

I recommended choosing a colour palette, for example: blush pink, navy, creams or browns, creams, oranges etc…   Coordinate items from your families closets that bring these colours together.  Not everyone needs to be in a white t-shirt and jeans.  Try to avoid heavy patterns and logos.  It is helpful to start with an item from mom’s closet and then start looking at everyone else’s outfits.  If you are bringing shoes please ensure they are clean as I do see a lot of newborns in studio as well.

11. What to wear

I have a large collection of maternity gowns clients can use for their sessions.  These are designed for maternity so they are pretty stretchy.  You can view my maternity gowns here: You can view my maternity gowns here Each package has a different amount of outfit changes

If you prefer a more casual look a nice stretchy/flowy dress works as well

Oversized mens button shirt can also be really cute

A bandeau with stretchy jeans or leggings are also very cute

12. Undergarments

A strapless bra is a great idea as some gowns are tube top, sweetheart line, off shoulders.  A nude (beige) coloured thong or seamless underwear is also a good idea to prevent them showing through.  Lacey undergarments if you are wanting partial nude images.

13. Consider Pampering yourself, hire a make-up artist and/or hair stylist

I'm located in Southfield Village Caledon and have worked with many fantastic make-up artists in the area.  I like natural makeup.  Check out these lovely ladies to schedule an appointment: Alessandra Marlena Beauty Elysa Casale Beauty

14. Nails are a big one

Maternity concentrates a lot on your baby bump so you will likely be placing your hands on your baby bump a lot during your session.  You do not need to go out and get a manicure (unless you want to of course) but consider no chipped nail polish

I have many maternity gowns available in studio for you to use during your session.

You can view them all here Maternity Gowns

And most importantly remember to have fun! I have had many maternity clients tell me they truly feel beautiful and like themselves again during their session.

Welcome to another special edition of my blog!  I am a local maternity and newborn photographer in the Brampton, Caledon and Mississagua area.  My studio is located close to hwy 410 making it accessible throughout the GTA.  It is my absolute pleasure to capture this beautiful time in a woman's life.  Once baby is born and starts to grow we forget the pregnancy troubles but want to remember our growing baby and all the excitement when we were pregnant.

This edition of my blog is dedicated to an in-depth look into the maternity gowns I have available in my studio for use during your session.  There are a few others that may are not shown here (most new stock that has been worn yet).  My goal is to take off the stress by providing gorgeous gowns for you to use.  These can be used for outdoor maternity sessions as well but I do ask that they are requested so that I know which ones to bring along.

Hair and makeup can be arranged for you as well, the cost must be paid by the client though.

Most gowns fit all sizes, there are a select few that are a little smaller.

The ideal time for maternity shoots is between 32-36 weeks, when you are showing.  They can be done earlier or later depending on how mom to be is feeling or how much she is showing.

Contact me at info@pmphotography.ca for more information or check out the pricing menu at the top of the menu bar.

If you like the flowing gown look this is very specific to certain materials.  The fabric must be lighter in order to be tossed and flow in the air during the shot.  Please let me know if this is a shot you want so we choose the right gowns.

Hello and Welcome to my blog.  I am a maternity photographer in the Caledon (Southfield Village area).

We moved into a new place in Southfield Village (Caledon) back in April, I was 2 months pregnant at the time.  Our street is not yet fully completed but upon moving here there were many kids and 1 baby and 4 pregnant women (myself included).  We joked about the street blessing us with a new home and new babies.  Today, all 4 babies have been born.  I did Mansi's maternity photos just 1 week prior to her giving birth to her new little guy and will be meeting him soon for his newborn photos.  Mansi thanks so much for booking with me and I'm looking forward to not only your newborn photos but for our little ones growing up together.
