Welcome!  I’m a cake smash photographer in Caledon very close to Brampton and Mississagua area.  I specialize in Cake Smash (cakesmash, smash the cake, first birthday) photography in the Southfield Village area.

I love blogging all my sessions for 2 big reasons: it gives me an opportunity to reflect on the special images the family gave me the honour of capturing for them and the 2nd it gives my future clients an opportunity to see how a typical session goes as I usually post my most favourite images from the session and reflect on the session.

Jayden's parents requested a batman themed cake smash, I absolutely adore this backdrop and find it so fitting for superhero themes.  My aim with all sessions is to try to make them somewhat unique and special to the baby I'm photographing.  Although I've done a batman theme before, similar to this, we did change up a few things.  Jayden adored his cake and gave us some pretty special smiles, I love the sugar makes me happy smiles!  He was a very calm and relaxed little guy, taking in his surroundings and enjoying the moment.  Thank you Leanne, it was a pleasure capturing these for you all.

And now...onto the smash photos

Welcome!  I’m a cake smash photographer in Caledon very close to Brampton and Mississagua area.  I specialize in Cake Smash (cakesmash, smash the cake) photography in the Southfield Village area.

Quite often I meet people and tell them what I do for a living: I am a newborn, baby, family, cakesmash and maternity photographer.  7/10 people will stop and say "Cake smash? what's a cakesmash?" and so I am inspired to write this blog.

A Cakesmash session is a fun birthday celebration session, it marks baby's first birthday milestone but can be done for other subsequent birthdays and even for adults to mark their milestone birthdays (16th, 20th, 30th, 40th birthdays etc).  It also doesn't have to be a "cake" persay, I've seen "paint splashes" (usually for ages 2+), "spaghetti smashes", "donut smashes" etc... It's fun to experiment.  They are most commonly done for first birthdays.

Check out my past customized cake smash sets below, please note customized cake smash setups are $100 add on to the signature cake smash package.

The sessions are generally done on or around baby's birthday.  If parents would like the images for the first birthday invitations, I typically suggest booking 1 month prior to the birthday party so that the images are completed in time for the invites or birthday displays (cakesmash collages are very popular).

Cakesmashes typically mark baby's first encounter with sweets, but that doesn't necessarily mean your baby can't have a fun birthday celebration if they have already had sweets.  It's a time where baby can make a mess and just have fun and enjoy their birthday cake.  I cater to your child's pace, if baby needs a milk break or just a moment to get comfortable then we take a moment.  New places can be overwhelming.  Cakesmashes are meant to be fun and relaxed.  Sometimes you may just have to listen to me sing!

So why choose me as your photographer for your baby's cakesmash?  There are many incredible and talented photographers out there.  My goal is to work with you, whether your looking for a simple session, characterized or the full out glamour, I'm here to help.  I am very creatively inspired.  I like to look at a theme and then bring ideas on how to put everything together and most of all I collaborate with both my baker and parents. What better way to put things together than to know a little about your child?  Does that mean all of my cakesmash sessions are extremely detailed? not always, it really depends on what the parents want, I have been asked for simple...concentrating on "baby" in that moment.  I like to put together ideas and bring everything together in an amazing setup but that doesn't mean I don't do simple setups as well.

Below you'll see some of my previous cakesmash setups.  I'd love to create a customized set for your little one's milestone birthday.  Email me at: info@pmphotography.ca to get in touch!

And of course what's a cake smash without a clean baby?  Bubble bath clean up available with all cake smash sessions either on cake smash backdrop, rubber ducks, or bubbles.

Welcome to my blog!  I’m a Brampton and Caledon Cakesmash photographer, located in Southfield Village formerly known as Strawberry Fields.  I have been capturing maternity, newborn, baby, family and cakesmash sessions for the last few years.

Turning ONE is a big milestone, it is the beginning of all birthdays and survival of the first year especially for new parents!  Why not celebrate with a cakesmash, after all it is usually baby's first encounter with sweets.  When Dylan's parents contacted me about booking his cakesmash, they wanted a simple session.  We decided to go with grey and blue and it was the perfect opportunity to use a banner I've had in my studio forever.  They brought along his favourite Thomas the train toy and he even showed me how it moved.  As always we started with his pre-cakesmash photos, his cakesmash and ended with his bubble bath clean up (Smash and Splash sessions only) which was his favourite part!

Thank you so much Patrick and Natasha for choosing me, Dylan was an absolute delight.

Welcome to my blog!  I’m a Brampton and Caledon Newborn photographer, located in Southfield Village formerly known as Strawberry Fields.  I have been capturing maternity, newborn, baby, family and cakesmash photo sessions for the last few years.

When Parm contacted me about booking Aahanna's Cakesmash in our Caledon Studio, she mentioned her name being "Hawaiian" and wanted a Hawaiian theme for the cakesmash.  I had wanted to incorporate paper flowers into a cakesmash for awhile but never really had a theme they would work for.  The fact that hibiscus and floral stuff hadn't really come into season yet (there was mostly Christmas decor), I ended up having to make a lot of the props we used for the set.  I was thrilled with the look and will be incorporating this backdrop into this years Easter Minis.  Parm even made an organic gluten free cake for the smash.  The set, the decor, the outfit, the cake were all perfect but Miss Aahanna wasn't much into smashing.  We still ended up with some great images and memories for the family.

Welcome to my blog!  I’m a Brampton and Caledon Newborn photographer, located in Southfield Village formerly known as Strawberry Fields.  I have been capturing maternity, newborn, baby, family and cakesmash photo sessions for the last few years.

As I catch up on my blog posts, I couldn't believe that I haven't shared these images from my niece's adorable pink and gold star themed cakesmash.  We picked the theme from her cakesmash and completed the session back in the summer.  She has the most contagious smile and was very quick to share them.  Cindy, thank you so much for bringing her by for her cakesmash, she's truly grown beautifully and I cannot wait to see her grow through the years!
